Evening Sermon - 24th August 2025 - The Four Elements of True Repentance in Psalm 41

Preaching from Psalm 41:4, the Reverend George Speers explores what he calls 'an excellent prayer' — David's plea, 'O Lord, be gracious to me and heal me, for I have sinned against You.' Rev Speers traces four elements essential to genuine repentance: the sob of confession, the cry for cleansing, the plea to Christ as the great physician of souls, and the appeal for God's clemency and mercy. Drawing on Spurgeon, Calvin, Luther, Owen, Augustine and other voices, along with illustrations ranging from a broken watch to the 1854 London cholera outbreak, he calls listeners to bring their sin-sick souls to Christ alone for true healing.
