Preaching from 1 Kings 17:7-24, the Reverend George Speers explores the story of Elijah, the widow of Zarephath, and her son to show that the God of the Bible is utterly unique among the gods of the ancient world and the counterfeit spiritualities of today. Rev Speers traces three characteristics revealed in the narrative: God's sovereignty over creation and history, his grace poured out on an unlikely Gentile widow, and his power over life and death itself. The sermon draws lines forward to Christ's provision, resurrection and the hope of eternal life for all who trust in him.
