In this study of the strange and troubling story of the two prophets in 1 Kings 13, the Reverend George Speers wrestles with a passage rarely preached on: a man of God who obeys a bizarre command, is deceived by a fellow prophet, and is struck down by a lion, only to be tenderly buried by the very man who deceived him. Rev Speers draws out lessons on obedience, discernment, divine judgment, compassion for those who fall, and above all the unshakeable faithfulness of God even when His messengers fail. The sermon closes by pointing to Christ as the perfect prophet who never fails, and ends with the story behind the hymn 'The Love of God'.
