Working through the turbulent succession of kings in 1 Kings 15:25–16:34, the Reverend George Speers traces Israel's moral and spiritual collapse following the split from Judah. He shows how the broken covenant line, marked by violence, self-preservation and idolatry, exposes the rebellious heart of every sinner, while also demonstrating that God's word of judgement and blessing is always fulfilled. Rev Speers closes by pointing to Christ as the only true security and King amid the passing rule of "little rulers".
