In this study of 1 Kings 18:1-21, the Reverend George Speers examines four responses to God's call amid Israel's spiritual crisis: Elijah's bold obedience, Obadiah's costly faithfulness within a hostile palace, Ahab's prideful blame-shifting, and Israel's fence-sitting indecision. Rev Speers draws out lessons on the difference between nominal and genuine faith, the preparation God works through hidden seasons, and the call to wholehearted allegiance rather than divided loyalty. Drawing parallels with Moses, Daniel, and Joseph, and with contemporary examples of persecuted Christians, he presses the congregation to ask where they stand as Elijah's challenge to Israel - "how long will you go limping between two opinions?" - still echoes today.
