Preaching from Proverbs 14:34, the Reverend George Speers challenges Keir Starmer's definition of Britishness — tolerance, democracy, the rule of law — and argues that true national greatness has always rested on righteousness. Rev Speers traces six marks of that righteousness: the Word of God, the fear of God, the image of God, the church of God, the day of God, and the gospel of God, and warns that Britain's decline is fundamentally spiritual rather than political. He closes by pointing to the gospel of Christ, drawing on Romans 1 and the testimony of Martin Luther, as the only true source of a nation's renewal.
