In this first of two introductory messages on the book of Zechariah, the Reverend George Speers sets the historical scene of the Jews' return from Babylonian exile and the rebuilding of the temple under opposition and spiritual lethargy. He introduces Zechariah himself as both priest and prophet, drawing out lessons about faithfulness, obedience to God's Word, and the call to combine worship with bold witness for Christ. Rev Speers also applies the history to contemporary national and personal spiritual complacency, urging listeners to take God's Word seriously before judgement falls.
