Evening Sermon - 10th May 2026 - No Escape from Divine Judgment

This evening's sermon is delivered by Rev. George Speers.

In the third and final sermon on 1 Kings 20, the Reverend George Speers examines verses 31 to 43, where King Ahab's hard-won victory over Ben-Hadad of Syria collapses into compromise, hypocrisy and judgment. Drawing on parallels with Achan, Saul, David and Nathan, and figures such as Matthew Henry, John Calvin, Spurgeon and Jonathan Edwards, Rev Speers traces how Ahab's leniency toward God's enemy becomes an act of treason against the King of kings. The sermon closes with a searching call to self-examination and an appeal to find refuge from judgment in Christ.
